Saturday saw Midsomer Norton Cricket Club's First Eleven meet Stapleton CC, at Withies Lane.
As the club's newest sponsor we were happy to accept an invitation to attend the match.
We were a little concerned that Friday's torrential rain might have left the pitch a little soggy, but all was well!
Midsomer Norton won the toss and elected to field first. The visitors made a very respectable 146 all out, with Wicket Keeper Oliver Sharp the highest scorer with 60 runs to his credit.
Sadly, the Greencaps were unable to beat this score, finishing on 122 all out, with Andrew Cox and Dean Clifton as the highest scorers, achieving 30 and 23 runs respectively. We understand that the 2nd Eleven, playing away against Stapleton, saw a similar outcome!
Despite the disappointing outcome, it was an enjoyable afternoon, and we look forward to more games through the summer.
The 1st Eleven will be playing again on Wednesday evening, against Chipping Sodbury, and next Saturday will be at Withies Lane against the Old Bristolians Westbury CC, with play starting at 1 p.m.
Thank you for the hospitality on Saturday, and best of luck for the upcoming games!
